Q&A:
Q. What was the major benefit of using AmvicTM ICF over traditional construction
methods? Describe how this project maximizes the advantages of ICF construction.
A. “The project was completed just in time for the Parade of Homes tour and
received much recognition and praise for the uniqueness of the project and
the innovative designs that we could only do with ICF. The other builders were
especially intrigued and impressed with the home construction. Lumber was
climbing at the time this house was built so it was actually more cost-effective
to build it with ICF as was it to save money to build it for the future efficiency of
the home.
With ICF this home achieved a HERS rating of 56, with an annual cost savings of
$943. It features a 95% efficient furnace, an attic insulated to R-49—exceeding
the required R-38—and argon-filled windows to minimize heat loss. All
appliances are energy-rated, and LED lighting is used exclusively throughout the
home.”
Contractor/Owner Quote
“We shared our knowledge of Amvic ICF
with our loyal subcontractors, who agreed
to collaborate with us on this project. They
worked closely with us, and we were on-site
daily to address any questions. Since then,
they have successfully completed other ICF
projects and now confidently refer clients to
us who are interested in using ICF for their
own builds.”
