Envirostrap Rigid foam Insulation
Envirostrap is a rigid insulation board made from closed cell Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) with two integrated furring strips on one side. This highly effective combination of materials offers a 2-in-1 solution incorporating insulation and finish attachment surfaces that can be used for both above grade and below grade interior applications. The furring strips can either be fully recessed inside the foam for interior finish installation or can protrude from the surface of the foam by ¾” (19mm), creating an air gap that is needed for exterior cladding installation.
The two furring strips are located 16” on center (406mm) on each panel and are 2.5” (63mm) wide and make for an easy installation of finishes such as siding or gypsum board (drywall). The combination of the thicker strips (1” (25mm)) with the spacing and width provides the user with the widest range of warranty compliance by the various siding manufacturers.
The furring strips are made from plywood in order to eliminate bowing and warping that can be found in typical dimensional lumber. For instances where wood cannot be used due to potentially increased moisture issues, the panels can be ordered with plastic strips giving the user excellent flexibility.
- 3.9 hr.ft2.F/Btu (0.69 m2K/W per 25mm)
- Vapor Permeance
- 5 US perms (287 ng/Pa.s.m2)

Why Build with Envirostrap?
Contractor & Installer
Lightweight boards are easy to handle while integrated strips eliminate an extra step in installation.
Architect & Engineer
The boards provide a built-in air gap to ensure cladding is installed as rainscreen allowing for easy egress of any trapped moisture.
Improve the energy efficiency of your home while creating a more comfortable environment.
The Alleguard Advantage
With a combined 60-year history and proven track record of supporting our customers’ visions, Alleguard is strategically built from the ground up to expand and shape your business. Whether you’re in construction, protective packaging, cold-chain or other industries, we are relentless in going the extra mile to help your business succeed.
EPS has high R-value retention, is fully recyclable, and is easily customizable. EPS is made without ozone-harming compounds or any kind of dye. It is available in a variety of compressive strengths and has superior bonding capabilities. Best of all, EPS will save you time and money. So the real question is: Why not EPS?
Building with Envirostrap
Superior Thermal Insulator
Envirostrap has exceptional Long-Term R-Value Retention (LTTR) as well as increased thermal resistance in lower temperatures.
Durable, Lightweight, Flexible
Each panel is easy to handle due to the low weight and can be easily cut.
Improved Indoor Air Quality
Envirostrap does not contain CFCs or HCFCs, no off-gassing and does not promote growth of mold and mildew.
Increases Comfort & Energy Savings
Acts as continuous insulation in the building envelope, reducing thermal bridging and energy consumption while improving comfort.
EPS foam can be recycled and uses only steam and water during manufacturing.
Shaping A More Sustainable World
Sustainability is one of our top priorities, both for our products themselves and for what our products make possible. Manufactured without ozone-damaging compounds, recyclable and endlessly reusable, EPS has a smaller carbon footprint and results in less pollution than the manufacturing of alternative materials. And EPS helps create a more sustainable world by making buildings more energy efficient, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, preventing product damage and waste, and reducing shipping fuel usage, just to name a few. We’re constantly working to find new ways to be good stewards of our customers’ visions and of our environment.
