Paving the Way with Geofoam: Enhancing Infrastructure Projects

Learn how Geofoam alleviates load on retaining walls in the Staten Island Expressway project, crucial for extending the HOV lanes.

ICA Geofoam is used on the Staten Island Expressway

Geofoam is helping to pave the way for a Staten Island Expressway project. The first 2 of 44 trucks were delivered and installed by CCA – China Construction America. The scope of the project is to extend the High Occupancy Vehicle, HOV lanes. The existing retaining walls could not handle the additional load of the expansion. To avoid the cost of replacing these walls, the soil is being removed and replaced with Geofoam, thus reducing the load. The Engineers are NYS DOT – PA Americas Inc.
