We here at ICA, like to keep an eye on how GEOFOAM is going across the nation and globe always looking for great articles, videos, news and photos for our clients. While searching the internet we came across a great project about 3,000 miles away.

Here is a summary of that project. To learn more watch the video and click on the additional links.

Geofoam is a superior insulator and the first building block choice for a construction project located in Yamhill County, Oregon. This construction site video narrates the process of installing geofoam in the foundation. The home incorporated three foundation types: slab on grade, platform framing and a full basement. Expanded polystyrene (EPS) geofoam was installed under each foundation element which will bring the foundation R-value to 56. EPS was also used to cover the roof sheathing. I guess you could say EPS has this house covered top and bottom. This green building project was designed by Holst Architecture and built by Hammer & Hand. The team seeks to achieve the highest level of green building certifications, Passive House, Minergie-P-Eco, and LEED® Platinum certifications.
