Customer: Philadelphia Phillies, Nemours via Universal Foam Products
Challenge: To create a temporary custom sign outside Citizens Bank Park to celebrate Opening Day of the baseball season.
Solution: The Philadelphia Phillies boast 1980 and 2008 World Series titles and several nDivision Championship titles making them a team to watch over the last few decades. Opening Day in Philadelphia has been arguably the official start to Spring for the Philadelphia region.
On April 11, 2016, it was Opening Day for the MLB in Philadelphia, before the first pitch the park had a large-scale block party to celebrate complete with a Ferris Wheel, food trucks and batting practice for fans. In a larger than like display was the cutout word “OPENING DAY” made out of EPS foam that sat front and center as the players paraded into the park!
It was the spot for TV news crews and photo opportunities for fans took place in front of the life sized expanded polystyrene (EPS) sign.
For this project we collaborated with Universal Foam Products to provide the 77” high sign that included the Phillies emblem.
EPS really knocked it out of the park with this display.
A testament to the durability of EPS and ease of use for set-up, take down and storage is evident with the repeated usage for this exact sign. This EPS sign has been seen multiple times in front of Citizens Bank Park on Opening Day.
It continues to capture the attention of local media outlets such as, WHYY in Philadelphia and of course Phillies fans.
