While “green” energy efficient building is becoming increasingly popular, energy funds are being implemented to reduce carbon emissions, help reduce energy usage, and lower utility bills. In most recent news, the New York state Energy Research and Development Authority has allocated funds to support the design and construction of new energy efficient housing and similar construction improvements in existing buildings.
A portion of the funds will be offered to housing developers and builders of low rise housing, while the other portion is designated for low to moderate income residents. Both programs support energy efficiency measures such as increased insulation and improved air-sealing; high-efficiency heating, cooling, and balanced ventilation systems; energy-saving appliances and lighting; high-performance windows and doors; as well as renewable energy technologies.
